It is with great enthusiasm that we express our wholehearted support for the UCAM program at Southern Oregon University. As the parents of an SOU Senior, who has been enrolled in UCAM throughout his tenure at the University, we are compelled to endorse this exceptional program. Our son had such a positive experience in this program, that he applied for a job and was hired as a Student Mentor.

We first heard about UCAM during a tour of SOU. We live thousands of miles and an ocean away from Oregon so the thought of individual Coaching and Academic Mentoring sounded like a good way to provide additional support for our son, who has some learning differences. Initially, we were concerned that it could be another program that promises the world and delivers nothing. But this one is different. It’s like a breath of fresh air. UCAM isn’t just a program, it’s a community. The people involved – the instructors, the students – they’re all passionate about what they’re doing, and it shows. There’s a spirit of creativity and collaboration that permeates everything they do. We’ve seen firsthand the impact that UCAM can have on someone’s life and career. It’s not just a bunch of empty promises – it’s real, and provides students with tangible results.

The UCAM faculty members have diverse areas of expertise and their guidance helped equip our son with the necessary tools to embark on his own academic and social odyssey. At UCAM, students learn to fearlessly explore their voices and embrace their unique perspectives. The relationship he (and we!) developed with his specific coach, Jade, has been a most rewarding and unexpected gift. One we will continue to cherish and be grateful for forever.

Moreover, the UCAM program is committed to fostering a supportive community. This sense of solidarity creates an environment of shared growth and inspires students to push the boundaries of their creative limits.
